it’s wednesday, december 10, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called maghā until about 2 p.m. MST, then pūrvaphālgunī. leo wants us to, invites us to, shine, radiate, stand in our power—not from a place of self-importance but to show others how it’s done, to give others permission to shine as well.
i was struggling with the structure of a memoir i’ve been working on (forever!) when i serendipitously read the poet maggie smith’s memoir, you could make this place beautiful. a light bulb went off! she blew up my notions of how it has to be done, gave me permission to do it my way.
how can you be the light, shine like the sun, & give others permission to do so as well?
would we not make this world more beautiful if we all shone?!
maghā, as i mentioned yesterday, is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, who, if they’re neglected, if they’re not fed, can become hungry ghosts, forever wandering in a state of insatiability. we can prevent that by honoring our ancestors, showing our gratitude to them—we wouldn’t be here without them, right? we can also honor them by working through our own karma to be the best we can be, shine as brightly as we can, b/c when we heal our own karma, we heal the karma of our lineage.
pūrvaphālgunī is ruled by bhaga, the god of delight, of sensual pleasures. he invites us to take a timeout from all our doing—even kings & queens get a day off from all their worldly duties! pūrva p says, “resting is the fuel for my creativity,” says, “all work & no play makes me dull dull dull, makes my light go out.”
it’s the seventh lunar day (tithi), the seventh phase of the waning moon, which gives us self-command, steadiness, courage. & this tithi + pūrva p + wednesday creates two powerful yogas, combos that will give us a huge boost in that regard—just don’t forget to stay humble or you may be humbled.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who loves to use his words & discriminating intelligence, preferably in concert. so it’s a good day to send emails, have convos, call congresspeople to hold them accountable, tell them, for example, to do something to counteract our president’s impending efforts to bail out the tech bros—as if those bazillionaires need it! as if we didn’t learn something from the bank bailouts of ’08! hint: it was not good for we the people! (sorry to get political, but my blood is roiling this morning!)
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
