it’s tuesday, july 29, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called hastā. virgo vibrates with the frequency of details & perfectionism. it’s where we pay attention to the minutiae of our life, want to make sure all our i’s are dotted, our t’s crossed, that our world is spic ‘n’ spanned. it’s where we turn chaos into order, b/c we think that will ensure our safety, prevent illness. & in a sense that’s true. surely keeping our roof in good repair keeps it from crashing down (um, would someone tell my landlord that?!). surely eating healthfully & getting exercise keeps the doctor at bay. but we’ve all also heard of people who never smoked a day in their life getting lung cancer or who smoked for decades living into their 100’s, yes?
which isn’t to say that we should let our lives & bods go to pot, just that we don’t have the last word, we can’t control everything (or, um, most things), that by being micro-focused on the micro we lose sight of the macro, of the big picture.

hastā means “hand” & is ruled by savitur, the vedic sun god, whose rays extend outward like our fingers & who puts the gifts of creativity & healing literally in our hands. this asterism gives us the ability to achieve our goals, by giving us the power not only of creativity but also the skills necessary to materialize our vision, make it real.
hastā is also another name for ganesh, the lord of obstacles, whose trunk is considered a fifth hand. & virgo is the natural sixth house of the zodiac, where obstacles come alive, so if you are feeling challenged goal-wise, try praying to ganesh, chanting his mantra, om gam ganapataye namah.
it’s the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waxing moon, until about 1 p.m. MDT, then the sixth. if the fifth supports us with creative (!) fire, the sixth turns the heat up into a blast furnace of passion. just as carbon under intense heat & pressure over billions of years becomes a diamond, so can our creative inspiration—hopefully in way less time!
tuesday is ruled by mars, so tuesday is always a good day to build your mars muscle: get physical, get courageous, fight your own demons rather than people you perceive as enemies.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
