it’s wednesday, september 3, & moon is in sagittarius, moving from the starspace called pūrvāṣāḍha into uttarāṣāḍha just before noon MDT. sagittarius is ruled by jupiter, the biggest guy (or gal) in the sky—he contains twice the mass of all the other planets combined; he’s soooo big that 1,000 earths could fit inside him. sagittarius invites us to feel into our abundance, into all the gifts we contain, to accentuate the positive & latch onto the affirmative—to zoom out & get some perspective, recognize all the ways the universe has been supporting us, all the ways it has designed our lives so we can keep evolving, become more & more who we are meant to be, step more & more bigly into our dharma.

you gotta ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
e-lim-i-nate the negative
and latch on to the affirmative
don’t mess with mr. in-between

from the song “ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive”

pūrvāṣāḍha & uttarāṣāḍha are, as you might guess, twinned asterisms, pūrva being the first step toward victory, uttara the latter. we plant the seeds of our greatest longing in pūrva & start to nourish them; in uttara we ask ourself if something’s missing from our recipe for success & where or from whom we might resource it. pūrva’s message is “go for it”; uttara’s, “ask for help if you need it.”

it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, when our mind is the least bizzy & buzzy & so we are most able to connect to the divine. in fact, the quality of this tithi is jyotsna, which means “divine halo,” as in bliss bubble. if you want some (or a lot!) of that, all it takes is a little effort on your part in the form of fasting or meditating.

it wasn’t until i was in my twenties or so to understand that fasting on yom kippur wasn’t a punishment, that the reason we fasted was so we could pray harder, so that our minds & bodies weren’t distracted by food—until perhaps the last hour when all we could think about was what we were going to eat when the fast was broken!

what would you pray for if you gave yourself a timeout from your worldly existence?

wednesday is ruled by thinky-talky mercury, who is hanging out in leo these days, which means we may be fired up mentally, passionate about what we know & about sharing it, about using our words to inspire others.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
