it’s thursday, april 11, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called krittika. after active, fiery aries, we get to ground & chill in lazy, earthy taurus, for taurus vibrates with the frequency of our emotional comfort zone, as this is where moon is exalted, feels stable, at peace. the question is whether our being at peace is coming from within or from without, as taurus is very material—it’s where we’re, like, “i have an overstuffed couch therefore i am,” where fulfilling our material desires can be how we find satisfaction, which means we are always in a state of dissatisfaction, “more” being the mantra of attachment to accumulated/accumulating stuff. why not try this mantra instead: “i let go of my need for more, & live in a state of pure gratitude. giving is replacing my demand for more.” (courtesy of “living the wisdom of the tao,” by dr. wayne dyer)
krittika derives from the sanskrit verb kṛt (कृत्), which means “to cut,” & is symbolized by an axe or other sharp object used for cutting, like a razor, blade or knife. an axe represents ignorance-destroying wisdom that severs worldly ties. it helps us cuts through the b.s. we’re attached to, once we become aware of it. “worldly” we can take to mean anything that prevents us from expanding into our highest expression of self. what might you take an axe to today? what needs to go?
it’s the fourth lunar day (tithi), the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which supports us in seeing bumps in the road as problems to be solved rather than as immovable obstacles. meeting challenges, especially those we don’t invite, is how we grow, how we stretch ourselves, how we discover what we’re really capable of. & our success is “measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome,” said booker t. washington. remember: ganesh is associated with this tithi & he places obstacles in our path for our benefit, only puts those there he knows we can overcome. he has our back, knows we’ve got this. you can do it!
