it’s tuesday, april 12, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. leo vibrates with the frequency of our autonomy, our sovereignty, our soul essence shining as brightly as the sun for all it’s worth. leo is the lion strutting its stuff, but doing so with magnanimity, with the greater good of all jungle creatures foremost.
magha means “mighty,” “beneficent,” “great” & is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors. this asterism brings a lesson about wielding our power, our authority, with humility, remembering that we didn’t come as far as we have come all by ourselves, that we stand on the shoulders of all those who came before us—those who gave us life & nurtured us, gave us teachings, inspired us, did their work (as best they could) so we can now do ours. who deserves your gratitude?
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, which is related to spiritual practices, especially fasting (def double auspicious today b/c it’s hanuman’s day—see below) but also meditation. yes, our spiritual practices are designed to bring us closer to god, to connect us more deeply to our divine nature, but so we can feel more grounded in our earthly existence, not so we feel indifferent to it.

if our spiritual practices are not making us kinder, more compassionate, more engaged members of society, something’s wrong.
tuesday is ruled by mars, our inner spiritual warrior. each day of the week is also associated with a deity & tuesday belongs to hanuman, who was born on a tuesday in the hindu lunar month of chaitra, which is we are currently in, altho his actual birthday (hanuman jayanti) was sunday this year. it’s considered auspicious to fast & wear red clothes & offer shri hanuman red flowers. it’s also a good day to tap into your inner hanuman, ask yourself who or what you are devoted to, who or what makes your heart beat, keeps the doors of your heart cracked as wide open as hanuman’s. jai hanuman!
