it’s thursday, april 13, & moon snuck into capricorn early morning mountain time while being supported & transported by the starspace called uttarashadha. whereas sagittarius vibrated with the frequency of inspiration, thanks to ruling planet jupiter, capricorn vibrates with the frequency of bringing that inspiration down to earth, getting practical about it, thanks to ruling planet saturn. saturn gives us discipline & perseverance, reminds us that, as my high school geometry teacher, flummoxed by our inability to concoct cogent theorems (um, if the whole class is incapable maybe it’s the teacher’s fault?!), would say, wishing won’t make it so. capricorn asks us to apply ourselves seriously.

uttarashadha means “latter invincible one” & is the counterpart (obviously!) to yesterday’s purvashadha. uttara is ruled by the ten vishvadevas, the universal gods who embody benign forces like willpower, skill, time & desire & guarantee victory if we ask them for help. if we don’t ask, we won’t receive, but, again, we have to do something—no one, not even a god, is going to do it for us! the symbol of this asterism is an elephant’s tusk, which ganesh, lacking a writing implement, broke off so he could use it to pen the mahabharata. talk about overcoming obstacles & becoming invincible! what kind of support do you need today & are you willing to ask for, receive & apply it?

it’s the eighth lunar day, the eighth phase of the waning moon, which is related to the basic creative properties of life—the five elements & three gunas. just as you may, say, lack a little willpower or the ability to dedicate time to get ‘er done, you may also just have too much rajas to focus or so much earth you feel stuck. see if you can figure out what, if anything, is amiss & rectify it.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us optimism, which “is the faith that leads to achievement,” as helen keller said, adding that “nothing can be done without hope & confidence.” if you’re feeling a little hopeless, a little less confident today, it could be b/c sun, who gives us confidence, is our soul power, our soul(ar) battery, is preoccupied with his move into aries, especially if, like me, you are a leo & are ruled by the sun. this, too, will pass, but meanwhile, try dropping into jupiter’s energy, perhaps by chanting the guru mantra, b/c jupiter’s name in sanskrit is, after all, guru.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
