it’s monday, april 1, & it’s no joke that moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called mula. sagittarius vibrates with hopefulness & optimism, which are related but different: hope entails expectation, optimism that the world/universe is infused with goodness, benevolence.

“hope is the thing with feathers—
that perches in the soul—
& sings the tune without the words—
&
never stops—at all—”

those are the words of emily dickinson. i’m thinking that what hope perches on is a branch of optimism, for how can we be hopeful without a foundation in optimism? whaddya think? how can you tap into the energy of hope or optimism or both?

mula is ruled by badass, take-no-prisoners niritti & invites us to suit up as our most badass superhuman self & yank out by the roots (“mula” = “root”) what doesn’t serve our highest expression of self, whatever, or whomever, prevents us from vibrating at our highest frequency. this asterism encourages us to weed our psychic-emotional-physical garden, to get down & dirty, b/c niritti is an especially fierce form of kali, & kali not only isn’t afraid of the messy & dirty but actually prefers it—it’s where she feels at home, most herself. go on, get your hands dirty!

it’s the seventh lunar day (tithi), the seventh phase of the waning moon, until about 9:30 a.m. MDT, then the eighth. the seventh supports us in courageously but humbly fulfilling our duties, taking our responsibilities seriously. the eighth is the halfway point between the bright moon & the dark moon, & supports us in embracing & balancing the forces of light & dark within us. unless we own our shadow, we can’t own our brightness, can’t shine effulgently.

monday is owned by the moon, the part of us that wants to connect with one & all, that desires & feels unity rather than separation. “the essence of truly connecting isn’t just in speaking but in listening, in creating a space where every word is heard, & every silence is understood,” says tantric teacher ma ananda sarita. but sometimes words are extraneous, so she counsels that “in moments of silence, when words fall short, a hug speaks volumes,” that “sometimes, all we truly need is a hug—to feel seen, to feel understood, to feel connected.” monday is a good day to reach out, offer or receive support/solace from someone, to feel the embrace of community.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
