it’s friday, april 24, & moon is in the starspace called krittika, which straddles aries & taurus, easing the transition between the fiery, masculine energy of the former & the earthy, feminine energy of the latter. notice whether you feel more action-oriented in the morning, more reflective in the afternoon, maybe even more inclined to sink into an overstuffed chair & put your feet up. because taurus is all about feeling cozy. moon likes being here, feels it can relax & let down its hair—the boundaries provided by the earth element create a sense of safety.
when moon is in krittika, the mind hews toward wanting to get rid of what doesn’t serve. “krit” means to cut, “tika” to challenge. we are being invited to cut out, get rid of, the excess in our lives, whether material or emotional (for starters), so we can discover what is essential. who’s up for the challenge? i think it’s safe to say that now that we are all spending so much time surrounded by stuff, stuff, stuff, many of us are cleaning out drawers & closets, trying to pare down. & many of us are examining our needs vs wants & the toll wants take on us psychically & financially & energetically. having learned that we don’t have to go to the store every time we have a desire for something, we’re learning that we can live without fulfilling every desire & how much time & energy & $ that saves—time & energy we can put to better uses, $ we can just leave in the bank. we’re also probably realizing that we don’t need so much clothes, right? anyone still in pajamas?
the question is, will our aha moments inspire us to really cut the excess out of our lives once we are through the pandemic? got scissors? got determination? is your intention for a more enlightened new normal stronger than your attachment to habit?
it’s the second phase of the waxing moon, which is related to structure & organization—so much easier to create structure once we make room in our lives, organize our c-r-a-p, eh? i know i could use a few days of the second moon phase!
friday is ruled by venus. the venus principle is how we move through life most of the time—we all want to be happy, feel good, enjoy life & other people. this sweet give & take with others is so essential to the human experience that now, when we cannot be in each other’s physical company, we have come up with all kinds of incredibly creative solutions to be together apart thanks to the miracles of zoom—from watching movies to holding passover seders to chanting to sharing earth day rituals to throwing birthday parties. the virus can’t keep us apart!
tomorrow is saturn’s day & i won’t be posting, because saturn likes us to lie low & get quiet & it’s my day to unplug as much as possible. but i did want to give you a heads-up that tomorrow is akshaya tritiya, an incredibly auspicious day. the luminaries, sun & moon, are both exalted (vibrating at their highest frequency) & will bestow good luck on whatever we undertake. good day to get married if you’ve been thinking about it! or start a new business! or buy gold! (do consult your financial advisor!) which is just to say that the most positive forces of the luminaries will be shining down on you, so do take advantage of that if you can.
& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, please contact me for a session! ~.~
