it’s thursday, april 29, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. the vibration of scorpio stirs us up emotionally & thus turns up the volume on maya, our illusion about the way things are. as douglas brooks writes in his new translation of the bhagavad gita (the student edition), “maya insures that in any experience more than one thing could be true (or false) in ways that instigate in us feelings of confusion, bemusement, uncertainty, and thereby defeats even our limited conviction in absolute surety.” how’s being absolutely sure working for you? how comfortable can you be with being unsure?
jyeshtha is ruled by lord indra, who embodied the aphorism “pride goeth before the fall.” the lesson today is to keep our egos in check even as we step into our power, especially as we step into our power.
it’s the fourth tithi, the fourth phase of the waning moon. (whoops, misread the tithi yesterday—apologies!) the fourth tithi is connected to both ganesh, the bringer of obstacles, & yama, the bringer of restraint & death. so don’t be surprised if you feel a tad, or more than a tad, stymied today. remember that obstacles give us an opportunity to step up, & over, to stretch ourselves & that death (an ending) always brings rebirth (a beginning).
thursday is infused with the energy of jupiter, aka “guru.” the guru is the one who removes (ru) the darkness (gu), allows us to see clearly, or more clearly. gurus come in all forms, from people to circumstances, starting with our parents & our birth families. everything in our life is a mirror reflecting our desires back to us, showing us who we are in that moment & offering us the opportunity to burn through some karma, learn a lesson so our soul can evolve. the question is whether we are ready to look in the mirror & acknowledge what we see. notice all the teachers/teaching moments that cross your path today—i bet you’ll be surprised how many there are! when you look in those mirrors what do you see?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
