it’s wednesday, april 29, & moon will be surfing the waters of cancer starting about 7:30 a.m. pacific time, in the starspace called punarvasu until early afternoon, then in pushya. cancer creates an atmosphere of unconditional love, the kind a mother has for a child—she gives her all for her child’s well-being with nary a thought for herself. it’s a one-way kind of love. there is no expectation of reciprocity, of getting anything in return. all a parent ever wants (so i’m told; i haven’t been one) is for their children to be happy. when i was taking care of my dying mother, she was always concerned about me, about whether i was getting enough rest! the downside of this energy is totally forgetting about ourselves. you know what they say; put your own oxygen mask on before you help others.
punarvasu is ruled by aditi, the universal mother, embodiment of the principle of the divine feminine. as such she is benevolent & caring & sensitive; she accommodates & welcomes all—all people, all situations, every crazy-ass mood that comes at her. pushya is ruled by brihaspati, the high priest/guru, who is benevolent & caring, generous & compassionate, which is just what you would want from a teacher or from someone you were seeking guidance from. good teachers, real teachers, care only about their students’ well-being, want the best for their students & even want them to surpass them—that’s how you can tell a real teacher from a fake one. been there, dealt with that.
how can you welcome without judging, without expecting anything in return? on whom can you bestow compassion & generosity? who can you wrap in your metaphorical arms & just love on today?
it’s the seventh phase of the waxing moon, which is related to lord indra, who both protected & sustained the heavenly realms, so more protecting, nurturing energy infusing the day. just make sure that your caring is about others, not about earning brownie points for your ego. ego was indra’s downfall & it has been for many false gurus.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, whose super powers have to do with details & communication. on wednesdays i try to channel my mercury super powers & take care of all those annoying phone calls & emails, the ones that entail making appointments or getting information that just pile up so rudely.
