it’s wednesday, april 6, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called mrigashira. under the sway of venus-ruled taurus, we want to take comfort in, indulge in, the earthly, sensual pleasures of our embodied existence—we want to gaze on beauty, taste deliciousness, listen to sublime music, touch the skin of another.

mrigashira can be characterized as a restless deer, always searching for another tasty morsel, always looking for the next best thing. this asterism brings a lesson about our craving for new experiences, new sensations—looking outside, beyond ourselves, to assuage an inner craving, which can ultimately only be assuaged by finding god within. & that can only happen when we can get still. which probably isn’t going to happen today! & that’s ok!

it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which is associated with lord shiva’s younger son, kartikeya, aka subramanian, aka skanda, who was a precocious general, winning great battles at a very young age. what battles have you won recently? celebrate your victories today! celebrate your wins! celebrate every way you have stepped up & honored your right to be who you are!
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who is intellectually curious, loves ideas, concepts. let’s face it—everything is a concept. a concept is “something conceived in the mind,” a “generic mental image abstracted from percepts.” we may think something exists in & of itself, but it really exists only as an idea in our mind—this is the buddhist, um, concept of emptiness. for example, to us a pen is an instrument for writing, b/c that’s how we perceive it, that’s our idea of it, but to a dog a pen might be a chew toy, b/c that’s how they perceive it. a pen is a concept. reality is a concept. time is a concept. wednesday—what a concept!
