it’s tuesday, april 9, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called ashwini. aries is the first sign of the natural zodiac & vibrates with the frequency of beginning again, starting fresh. ruled by mars, as is tuesday (see more below), it’s where we have the courage to boldly go where we’ve never gone before, do what we’ve never done, be more authentically ourselves than we’ve ever been before. it’s where, “every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become,” james clear wrote in “atomic habits.” “no single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity. this is one reason why meaningful change does not require radical change. small habits can make a meaningful difference by providing evidence of a new identity. & if a change is meaningful, it is actually big. that’s the paradox of making small improvements.” who do you wish to become? what small step can you make today that will ultimately be a big one?
ashwini is ruled by the ashwin kumara, twin horse gods. horses represent our senses/desires, which keep us running amok like wild horses, as we fulfill one desire, only to discover how fleeting that satisfaction is, how we soon desire something else, more. in the bhagavad gita, krishna says, “a person who can resist the impulses arising from desire & anger while still in the body is a true yogi & a joyful person.” (BG 5.23) it’s an especially good day (see mars, below!) to keep our horses reined in.
it’s the first lunar day (tithi), the first phase of the waxing moon, for just a smidge longer, but the second for the bulk of the day, but/& both are related to creativity, with our ability &, um, desire (!) to manifest, to nurture something into waxing as the moon does in this half of the lunar cycle. did you set an intention yesterday? did something come out of the liminal during the eclipse & bite you?
tuesday is mars’ day, & heads-up: he’s moving into a one-on-one with saturn tomorrow. saturn brings pressure, especially about our responsibilities, & can also make us feel isolated/lonely—often b/c we’re just working too darn hard. mars is our anger/frustration quotient, so we could come to a boil. best to start exercising restraint now, keep matches away from our fuse. & note: with this conjunction in aquarius, we could see global fuses getting shorter & shorter.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
