it’s thursday, november 6, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called kṛttikā. while aries is the sign of action, of doing, taurus is the sign of enjoying, of being. taurus vibrates with the frequency of contentment with our material existence, of having our desires satisfied. the “problem” with desire is that it is ever-replenishing—we satisfy one desire only for another to arise, which is antithetical to contentment. the key to contentment is to be grateful for what we have.
“when you love what you have, you have everything you need.”—a.a. milne
kṛttikā is ruled by agni, sacred fire, so it shouldn’t be surprising that its superpower is the power to burn—to transform negativity (around & within us) into ashes, to incinerate what keeps us out of integrity. thus agni is a force of truth/clarity & of purification & is the torch that lights our path forward.
renunciation is key to what in the buddhist canon is called “right view” or “wise view,” being able to truly see ourselves & the world as they are. whatever is preventing that, whatever is blocking our way onward gets to drop away like rocket boosters once they’ve done their jobs. sometimes renunciation is effortless—we just lose interest in, lose desire for something (another netflix series, processed food, an unhealthy relationship) b/c it no longer serves our highest expression of self, keeps us out of integrity/alignment. sometimes we have to make some effort, burn a little.

it’s the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waning moon, which, speaking of fire, gives us pride in yesterday’s spark of inspiration, encourages us to add fuel & oxygen to turn that spark into a flame for all to see.
thursday is ruled by wise ‘n’ optimistic, big ‘n’ bountiful jupiter, who is still in cancer, his sign of exaltation (max good-juju-ness), & so filling us bigly with wise view.
