it’s wednesday, august 11, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called uttaraphalguni. after feeling into our power in leo, virgo brings us down to earth, reminding us that the floors of the castle need to be steamed, the fridge filled with food, the checkbook balanced, that if we don’t pay attention to the details of our life our kingdom might easily fall into decay.
uttaraphalguni is ruled by the deity aryaman, who, like the deity mitra, is a dear friend. in this case, he’s the friend who brings two other friends together, acts like a go-between or matchmaker, & blesses the union. the lesson of this asterism is to make sure your commitments, any contracts you sign, are made from a place of love, have both people’s highest interests in mind. if you do so, the desires of both parties will be fulfilled. how hard can that be?
it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which may bring a feeling of heaviness, of having obstacles to overcome that seem too daunting. the yoga pose lolasana comes to mind. my arms always feel too short, my butt too heavy. but guess what? there’s a workaround with blocks! & there are usually workarounds with any obstacle—sometimes we just have to squint at it & get a different point of view.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us our powers of discrimination, our desire to share ideas, bounce them off other people, partly b/c it’s just fun (mercury likes fun!), partly b/c that’s how we hone our own opinions. & mercury is flexible, is willing to pivot given new information. how flexible are you? how willing are you to have open, honest conversations with others about the hard stuff, the stuff that can be so polarizing, for example? how willing are you to listen? if you share information does the other person, like, say, my contrarian brother, just respond with “that’s not true” without offering counter facts? that’s not a conversation, that doesn’t serve the purpose of gaining more insight, & that’s only going to drive the wedge deeper. notice whether you are using your words to close the divide or widen it. how hard can it be to use your words wisely, to close the divide?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
