it’s friday, august 11, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called mrigashira. while taurus vibrates with the frequency of enjoying what is, gemini vibrates with the frequency of looking beyond what is to what might be, to what treasure our intellectual & creative curiosity might uncover. gemini’s ruler, mercury, loves to talk & write about what’s going on in his/her/their head & is in leo right now, getting all fired up to do so. self-expression is a great, good thing as long as it is done with humility, not hubris, which leo can be prone to. we get to remember that sharing doesn’t mean forcing our opinions/insights on others or being arrogant about what we know (or, um, think we know).

mrigashira means “deer” (mriga) “head” (shira) & is ruled by soma, which is another name for moon & is also the elixir of immortality, that special sauce we are all, consciously or un-, seeking in life, just as a deer is always seeking yet another tasty morsel. this asterism gives us the power to be delighted, happy, enjoy bigly. it also reminds us both that enjoyment easily won isn’t usually appreciated & that there is really nothing to win, that soma lies within—hmm. … groking this is the goal of our spiritual practices.

it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which supports, yes, spiritual practices. “if you practice yoga every day with perseverance, you will be able to face the turmoil of life with steadiness & maturity,” said bks iyengar. “it is never too late in life to practice yoga.” yoga is both the means & the goal. there are four kinds of, paths to, yoga: bhakti (devotion), jnana (wisdom), karma (selfless service) & raja, aka the eight-limbed path outlined by patanjali in the yoga sutras. the eight limbs feed, interact, with each other & include ethical behavior, asana, pranayama & meditation. it’s a good day to get with your spiritual practices whatever they may be, recommit.

friday is ruled by venus, planet of love & beauty, which is our shared human experience, our common language, you might say. as a yardley ad (remember white lipstick? miniskirts? carnaby street?) once put it, “beauty is an international language,” &, i would add, so is love, so are all things venus—as embodied beings, life is a venusian experience. may you have a most delightful venusian experience today!

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
