it’s thursday, august 13, & moon is in the starspace called rohini, which occupies a sky-slice of taurus. taurus is ruled by venus, which is that part of us that wants to enjoy our embodied existence, wants to experience life through all of our senses, that loves food & beauty & being with the ones we love.
rohini means “reddish one” or “growing one.” “one” indicates cosmic feminine energy, “red” passion & warmth, “growing” the creative principle, abundance. in a nutshell, we’ve got some very creative, passionate, sensual energy to tap into today—use it enjoy the fruits of your previous efforts, the beauty you’ve already brought to the world, or to create something new that adds value to your life.
today is the tenth lunar day, which is associated with doing our dharma. often (always?) our dharma entails the thing we love the most. if you’re not sure what your dharma is, i invite you to, as rumi says, “be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you truly love.”
thursday is jupiter’s day. jupiter is our capacity for connecting to something higher than ourselves, which we often do through the guru, which is another name for jupiter. our parents are our first gurus, our first teachers. from them we learn how to learn & whom to learn from. thus, our relationship with our parents informs all of our future relationships with teachers. if we don’t respect our parents, we will have trouble respecting other teachers. the sanskrit phrase mata pita guru devam (mother, father, guru, god) shows us that our parents ultimately lead us to god—if we can’t resolve our issues with our parents, our ability to receive wisdom from the guru will suffer. if that relationship suffers, if we can’t surrender, our connection to source, to god, to all that is, will be compromised as well. today is a good day to reflect on the spiritual path from parents to teachers to god & see if any smoothing, any clearing of stones, needs to be done.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
