it’s wednesday, august 16, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. sun-ruled leo is the counterpart to moon-ruled cancer. moon reflects light, sun is light; moon receives, sun gives. while cancer vibrates with the frequency of unconditional love, of the mother’s embrace & compassion, leo vibrates with the frequency of fatherly protection, of showing up in the world & taking responsibility for others. leo’s highest expression is the use of power for the benefit of all, shining a light not so we can shine but so others can shine, by being an example of how to do so.
“don’t put out your fire b/c someone else doesn’t understand your flame. your light doesn’t dim when you ignite someone else’s flame, it just makes the world shine that much brighter.”—???
magha means “mighty” & is ruled by the pitris, our forebears, all those who came before us, &, well, shone their light so we can shine ours, whose light still shines, dimly or brightly, before us, guiding our way on. this asterism invites us to be our uniquely individual selves by connecting to the power invested in us by our ancestors; for we are each standing on the shoulders of all those who came before us, & we each have a unique lineage. no one else has the same genes passed down through centuries, no one else had the same teachers or mentors. it’s a good day to remember that by honoring our ancestors, showing our gratitude to them. how each of us chooses to do that is as unique as each of us.
it’s the first lunar day, the first phase of the waxing moon, the first day of watering the seed of intention that the new moon inspired us to plant. of course, the new moon occurred just before sunrise today, so maybe you got a hit while you were sleeping, are still feeling into what you want to manifest in this cycle. all good!
wednesday is ruled by mercury, planet of communication, who is hanging out in fiery leo near fiery mars. so let’s do make sure to hold our fire, not use our words to cause any conflagrations. with the world already as hot & dry as can be (especially in the west), those fires could take quite a while to extinguish.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
