it’s thursday, august 17, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha until about 8:30 a.m. mountain time, then purvaphalguni. leo is where we step into our individual power aligned with the highest intentions & act from that place. “when our behaviors match our intentions; when our actions are equal to our thoughts; when our minds & our bodies are working together … there is an immense power behind any individual,” joe dispenza says.
purvaphalguni (see yesterday’s post for magha) is ruled by bhaga, the god of delight, of happiness. it’s the section of leo where the king/queen/quing gets to enjoy the fruits (phalguni) of having performed their royal duties, taken their responsibilities seriously, where they get to rest on their laurels. this asterism is where my ascendant is & the first jyotishi i consulted told me it could be described as the cat (er, lion) in the hammock, but she didn’t expound, so i thought she meant i was a lazy ass. not true! cause you know what they say, all work & no play makes you a dull whatever your gender identification is. both work & play are experiences of shakti, the creative energy of the universe. it’s not one or the other, but both and. it’s not happiness or liberation/self-realization, but both and. according to swami satyasangananda saraswati, in her commentary on the “saundarya lahari,” shankaracharya’s paean to devi, to shakti herself, you don’t have to sacrifice one to achieve the other, for “worship of shakti offers both enjoyment & liberation on the same platter.” we get to have our cake & eat it too! it’s a good day to remember that & be your happy, eat your metaphorical (or actual!) cake, enjoy the sweetness of life.
it’s the second lunar day, the second phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to lord krishna in the form of narayana, the sustainer of the universe. this tithi (lunar phase) supports creativity (&, um, everything is creative b/c everything is an expression of shakti!) that, well, supports your life on earth, makes your foundation stronger, more permanent—like literally laying the foundation for a house, for example! what can you do to make your life more comfortable for the near or long term?
thursday is ruled by jupiter, planet of inspiration. to be inspired means to be filled with spirit. who or what inspires you, allows you to feel one with, full of, aligned with spirit?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
