it’s tuesday, august 1, & we’ve got a full moon in capricorn, in the starspace called shravana, officially maxing out at noon mountain time. nikola tesla said, “if you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency & vibration,” so let’s do that, yes?! capricorn vibrates with the frequency of, among other things, boundaries, creating a safe container for our lives. the full moon means the sun is in the opposite sign, cancer, where we can feel porous, unboundaried emotionally. cancer is where the new moon two weeks ago started this lunar cycle. the full moon invites us to examine where we have been overfeeling & overgiving & create a safety zone around ourselves to address any imbalance.
both sun & moon are in nourishing placements, sun in pushya, who gets spiritual nourishment from sacred wisdom; moon in shravana, getting nourishment by getting quiet & listening to the voice within, our intuition, which is, um, where wisdom lies. we def want to be listening to our inner voice, but we also want to listen to others, which means talking less so we can actually hear what they are saying, & in this way honor them by truly seeing them. either way, we are talking about the healing power of sound, of vibration.
the shakti of shravana is called samhanana, the power to connect. it is through connection, being open, receptive, willing to listen, that we can resolve conflicts, heal divides. on a recent podcast, russell brand interviewed oliver stone, who talked about how it was b/c of reagan’s openness that he & gorbachev, a capitalist & a communist, were able to come together to end the cold war.
shravana is the birth star of vamana, the avatar of vishnu who managed to resolve a seemingly insurmountable conflict between the gods & demons without any bloodshed, through humility & diplomacy. with his simple ask of three paces of land from king bali, he restored peace & harmony to the entire universe. ok, he did so through the conceit of taking the form a dwarf who expanded into hugeness, but still!
so our moon work for the waning cycle is to ask ourselves how we can go small to go big, how by being humble we can expand our receptivity—our compassion & empathy & consciousness—& thus our ability to listen deeply & create more harmony in our inner & outer worlds.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
