it’s thursday, august 20, & moon is in the starspace called purva phalguni, which means … it’s still leo time! leo, which is ruled by the sun, reminds us that we each have an inner sun. when diana durham, who would become a poet-writer & decoder of myth, was 18 she had an “experience of transfiguration” in which she “felt this golden sun was rising up in me,” she said in a recent “buddha at the gas pump” podcast. she thought, “this is what the word ‘love’ means; this is what truth means.” she described the experience as a feeling of immense power that left her with the awareness that “this energy is in everyone, it’s in all of us,” that “most of the time we don’t know it, but if we did know it the world would be completely transformed.” how can you tap into that immense power within yourself, hold it in the palm of your hand, & use it to transform the world?
purva phalguni is ruled by the deity bhaga, the god of delight. the best way to enjoy something is to share it with others. when we are in-joy with others, it expands our joy & theirs. so spread whatever lights you up, share your light & delight, expand the joy.
it’s the second phase of the waxing moon, which supports creative endeavors connected to god, to the divine, to creativity inspired by devotion, that reaches high.
thurday is jupiter’s day. jupiter is the guru. “they” say that when the student is ready, the teacher will come. just as in a romantic relationship, if we are not ready, receptive & willing, we’re not going to find our perfect partner, the teacher isn’t going to appear. we have to lay the groundwork, prepare ourselves, open ourselves up to the possibility. today is a good day to ask ourselves how that’s going, whether we are getting the teachers or teachings we want & need—& if not what we can do to create the conditions for them to arise, for them to appear to us.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
