it’s thursday, august 22, & moon is still in aries in the starspace called bharani (see yesterday’s post for more on that asterism’s energy) until midafternoon, when it moves into krittika. krittika straddles the signs of aries & taurus, connecting the fire of aries with the earth of taurus, the go-go-go, do-do-do of aries, with the relax, take a load off, enjoy of taurus. aries is ruled by mars, taurus by venus, & both planets are combust now, which means their energies/tendencies within us are being purified: notice how you are toggling between wanting to dominate (mars) & wanting to submit/compromise (venus), how you are trying to get the balance right.
bharani’s energy is about bearing & enduring, it asks us to bear the consequences of our actions, which often include loss—ultimately loss of life, b/c, hey, that’s a consequence of being born, but also loss of relationships, jobs, ideas, goals. i know that may sound grim, but it’s not meant to be. st. francis said, “true progress quietly & persistently moves along without notice.” which means that it’s just sometimes hard for us to see our progress, hard to see loss as a step forward, hard to let go of what really doesn’t serve us.
that’s where krittika, “the cutter,” comes in. this asterism is ruled by agni, the primordial god of fire. fire brings purification (which see how the sun is purifying mars & venus right now). krittika helps us cut through illusion, separate the wheat from the chaff; krittika allows us to find the needle of truth in the haystack of our negative limiting beliefs. got some to burn today?
it’s the seventh phase of the waning moon, which is connected to lord indra, the king of all gods, & invites us to get our inner indra on, feel like a king (or queen or however you want to identify your sovereignty), feel into our power to rule our domain, positively affect our world.
thursday is owned by jupiter, the guru. it is said that we seek teachings from teachers to get to the place where we realize we are our own teacher, we are our own guru. the guru is a state of knowingness, which comes from within; it is not ultimately a person. how much do you trust your own knowing, your inner wisdom?
