it’s friday, august 23, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called krittika until about 4 pm mountain time, then moves into rohini. taurus, an earthy, feminine sign ruled by venus, creates an environment in which we feel grounded in material comforts, allows us to enjoy the good things in life & encourages us to share them with the ones we love, which creates even greater comfort & grounding.
see yesterday’s post for the 411 on krittika, & do keep cutting through the illusions you are in sway to, but i’m going to talk about rohini, where the moon will be from late afternoon today until late afternoon tomorrow—b/c tomorrow is sacred saturday & i don’t post on saturdays. rohini means “red” & is related to passion & sensuality, to the desire for romance & big love.
with big love sometimes comes jealousy & possessiveness. rohini was considered the favorite wife of the moon, who had 27 wives (which is why there are 27 nakshatras; moon spends one night with each, to be fair), but despite being the favorite she could be triggered into fits of jealousy. can you love without possessing? can you selflessly allow your beloved to fulfill his/her/their desires without its being all about you, without taking, say, his/her/their need/desire to go on a solo hike or spend time with friends without you, personally, as an afront, as a reflection of how much s/he/they feel about you? can you be powerfully present & unattached, feel solid in who you are regardless?
meanwhile, it’s the eighth phase of the waning moon today, which is connected to the vasus, the eight elemental aspects of the divine through which we manifest: the gods of water, the polestar, moon, earth, wind, fire, pre-dawn, sky/ether. what do you want to create today? friday is owned by venus, emphasizing that taurean desire to experience love & beauty & to share it with others. one key to venusian energy is the word “share”—venus wants us to make sure that our relationships are a two-way street, that it’s not all give or get on one side.
