it’s thursday, august 29, & moon is in leo in the starspace called magha. moon has lots of company for the next couple of days as leo is a pretty full house, with mercury, mars, venus & the sun residing there as well. that’s a lot of planets being infused with leo’s fire—some like it hot, some don’t, but no one likes a crowded house, no one wants to share a bedroom with a not-friend, no one likes to vie to be seen, so don’t be surprised if the month ends with a little, um, intensity. maybe you’re feeling it already?
leo is the sign of the king & magha is the star of authority & respect. authority & respect are earned through humility, through honoring those who came before & basically bequeathed your life to you.
once upon a time there were no kings, no hierarchy. according to yuval noah harari: “hunter-gatherers picked & pursued wild plants & animals, which could be seen as equal in status to homo sapiens. the fact that man hunted sheep did not make sheep inferior to man, just as the fact that tigers hunted man did not make man inferior to tigers. beings communicated with one another directly & negotiated the rules governing their shared habitat.” then came the agricultural revolution & something called ownership, which brought a pecking order & the end of humility in the face of the great gifts that the earth bestowed on all, providing all that was needed. can you imagine a world based on need & not want? on equality for everyone & everything? rhetorical questions!
with the new moon in magha comes a connection to the divine masculine—not the masculine that wants to or needs to rule a kingdom, or lord it over anyone or -thing, but the masculine that is a pure outward expression of our truest nature, that is generous with its light, a hunter-gatherer masculine that feels more itself through cooperation than through domination, that understands its divine role in the interconnectedness of all life & that its role is nothing less or more important than anyone or anything else’s.
today is the dark moon, the last phase of the waning moon, so a good day to reflect on where in your life you want to bring more light, more divine masculine energy, where you need to act with clarity & a spirit of generosity.
thursday is owned by jupiter, the planet that represents our beliefs, the principles that we use like a compass to navigate life. are those principles serving you or are you holding onto them like childhood friends you have nothing in common with any more? just asking!
