it’s friday, august 2, & moon is in the starspace of leo called magha. leo is the sign of the sovereign; it’s where we’re reminded of our power to create the world we want to see & to rule it with magnanimity, with a sense of the greatest good for all, for the present & the future, of what is in the best interest of everyone & the planet, not just the 1%.
the mantra of the benevolent ruler would be lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu: may all beings everywhere be happy & free & may the thoughts, words & actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness & freedom for all.
magha is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors. we are our lineage & hold its scepter as a sovereign does. we stand on the shoulders of all those who came before us. we carry & are a result of seven generations’ worth of our lineage’s karma. yikes! so this is a good day to honor those who have come before, to realize that we wouldn’t be here without their efforts, flawed or not, maximized or not. by expressing our gratitude to them we can begin to clear karmic debt & to heal the wounds that have been passed down to us. our ancestors want us to be all we can be & they want to help us achieve that—all we have to do is stay humble, ask for their help, hold them in our thoughts & prayers. seven generations is a whole lotta resources—which aunt, cousin, grandmother can counsel you today? whose life on your family tree offers a clue to yours?
the second day of the waxing moon becomes the third this afternoon. so the first part of the day is about creating a comfortable earthly life, while the latter part is about embracing change, being open to options you hadn’t considered.
& that’s your daily bliss—venus owns friday, which makes this a great good day to not just ponder how you experience beauty, but to embrace it, in any of its myriad forms—friends, food, nature, art—to allow it to bathe you with nourishment.
