it’s tuesday, august 3, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohini. taurus creates an environment that facilitates contentment, santosha, which is one of the niyamas, or yogic guidelines for how to engage with the world. simon borg-olivier (pictured here) interprets santosha as “the choice to feel how you want to feel … the choice to be happy, not to wait to be happy, to recognize that happiness is not something that you wait for, but rather that happiness is something you choose, and you can choose misery as well,” adding that “happiness is a good choice if you want it.” if you want to be happy today, may i suggest watching his exquisite video of the yamas & niyamas in motion, either on his website or on youtube!
rohini (see yesterday’s post for more) is the moon’s favorite place, it’s where he would lay his head every night if he could. rohini means “red,” which is the color of passion. it is where love is sparked & with it the potential for emotional weakness & thus possessiveness & jealousy. can you swoon without clinging, just enjoy the swoon, trust the swoon, be the swoon without worrying about whether it is going to last forever, holding so tightly to it that it can’t breathe?
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which reminds us that meditation is the foundational practice, being present, not letting our past or future color the moment, to just be with what is, observe without judgment, see what is with love, which is our true nature. see if you can practice being a mirror, reflect & accept without opinionating, without clinging.
“when you bring something in front of a mirror, it reflects, simply reflects. there is no judgment that the man is ugly, that the man is beautiful. … the mirror has nothing to say. its nature is to mirror; it mirrors. this is what i call meditation: you simply reflect everything within or without.” — osho
tuesday is infused with the special sauce of mars, who gives us the courage to get sh%t done. but he’s also always ready for a battle, so make sure to keep your battles focused on yourself now more than ever.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
