it’s wednesday, august 3, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called chitra. in the environment of virgo, we can be picky-picky-picky, seeing only flaws, only what’s wrong, whether in ourselves or others. it’s always best to turn our gaze at ourselves before we foist it on others, & it’s also helpful to remember that, while there is nothing wrong with striving to be better, to be our best selves, which is why we are here after all, there is no such thing as perfection, & that we, like everyone else, are flawed—& there is a sort of perfection in that.
chitra is ruled by vishvamitra, the divine architect, & brings a lesson about our greatest act of creation, ourselves. just as michelangelo “saw the angel in the marble & carved until [he] set him free,” we, too, are sculptors, endeavoring to set ourselves, our angel essence, free, to keep chiseling away at what isn’t the angel, until we are fully realized, expressed, seen.
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which is associated with kartikeya, shiva & parvati’s other son, i.e., ganesha’s little bro. kartikeya was a precocious general, at a very young age winning many great battles, perhaps most famously the one against the demon tarakasura. it’s a great good day to celebrate our own victories, big & small, our own battles with demons, understanding that the demons are always “in here” not “out there.”
wednesday is ruled by mercury, planet of communication & technology. communicating by talking in person or on the phone, writing a physical letter, texting, zooming, or emailing are each technologies. according to the live science web site, “high-speed solar winds from a ‘hole’ in the sun’s atmosphere are set to hit Earth’s magnetic field [today]… triggering a minor G-1 geomagnetic storm,” which may affect our ability to communicate using technologies that depend on electricity, like the internet. the storm “has the potential to cause minor fluctuations in power grids and impact some satellite functions—including those for mobile devices and GPS systems.” on the plus side, “it will also bring the aurora as far south as michigan and maine.” cool! & great way to feel into our connection to cosmic energy, our interconnection with all that is!
