it’s thursday, august 3, & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called shatabhishak. aquarius is the sign of humanity & selfless service. it is where we feel our sense of responsibility for the world we live in, grok that every choice we make contributes (negatively or positively) to the future of our world. with moon exactly conjunct (that is, at the same degree) aquarius’s ruling planet, saturn, who is in retrograde motion, this is an especially potent day to do some self-inquiry around the choices we have been making & get serious about making more positively impactful ones going forward, b/c together we hold the fate of the planet in our hands.
shatabhishak can mean “one hundred healers” or “one hundred poisons”—hey, it’s a sanskrit thing!—& invites us to explore how that is true. for example, sometimes we have to explore myriad modalities to find a cure for what ails us & sometimes the cure is found in a poison, which is how homeopathy, vaccines & bacteria-killing penicillin work. this asterism gives us the ability to overcome all kinds of difficult karmas, physical & psychological. it can bring us to a come-to-jesus point in our healing but ultimately leads to rejuvenation.
it’s the third lunar day, the third phase of the waning moon, which supports us in being as flexible as gumby, being able to untwist ourselves when we get into knots, being able to reorient, change direction, if need be, if our plan doesn’t unfurl the way we planned it to. & truth be told, my plan rarely does! my daily to-do list is kinda like a rubik’s cube, with me constantly moving pieces to solve the puzzle of my day. how about you? & don’t forget to keep others who may be affected by your switcheroos in the loop.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru. “the guru is the living light that dispels the darkness of spiritual ignorance,” said rolf sovik, a senior teacher at the himalayan institute. “this light is none other than the self [cap “s” self] within us.” how can you tap into that light at the core of you & use it to uplift/uplevel the world, all of humanity? just as pennies (remember them?) add up to dollars, each of our individual bulbs together will produce the wattage of klieg lights.
