it’s tuesday, august 4, & moon is in the starspace called dhanishtha, which occupies a sky-slice that straddles capricorn & aquarius—by the time you read this, moon will already have crossed over into aquarius. under the sway of aquarius, the commitment & discipline we honed in capricorn extends beyond ourselves. in capricorn our inspiration was directed with perseverance toward personal goals, but in aquarius that inspiration & perseverance becomes more universal, our goals concern our culture, our society; they may even become political—we may decide to lock arms with the moms or start making more phone calls to our reps in dc to get them to pay attention to the people who really need help rather than to their campaign donors (& chastise them for even thinking about going on vacation before they do so!) or write letters for vote forward or donate big time to organizations like let america vote so we can see the change we want & deserve to see in november.
dhanishtha (like the second lunar day; see below) invites creativity. its symbols are both the mridanga & the bansuri, siva’s drum & krishna’s flute, both of which are hollow vessels for spirit, for creativity, for the divine to flow through. this juncture between capricorn & aquarius is also the seat of muladhara chakra, the root chakra, the gateway to sushumna nadi, another hollow vessel through which, when kundalini rises, if kundalini does indeed rise, the creative force of the divine, shakti herself, flows up & up & up.
it’s the second lunar day, the second phase of the waning moon, which is associated with vishnu/krishna in the form of narayana, who is said to have created the fourteen worlds & sustained them. what can you create today that will sustain you & your world? what can you create that is godly, that is connected to the divine, to the source of all that sustains?
tuesday is ruled by mars. today’s word is “act,” but do so with courage & focus, not devil-may-care ego.
