it’s sunday, august 4, & moon is in the starspace called uttara phalguni, a teensy bit of which is in leo but is mostly in virgo. moon was in leo until late yesterday afternoon, at which point it moved into virgo. maybe you felt a shift from leo’s sense of kingly/queenly entitlement, patting yourself on your back for all of your achievements, to virgo’s more critical nature, to questioning whether you really did a good enough job, whether you really did the best you could have? virgo can be very nit-picky, so beware, cut yourself some slack!
among the many translations of uttara is “higher,” as in higher in vibration, operating at a higher frequency. phal means “fruit,” & guna means “qualities.” so all together we’re talking about the best possible outcome produced by the intention of our actions. in vedic times, the best outcome was marriage that produced wealth, especially in the form of progeny (ie, fruit).
this asterism is ruled by aryaman, the deity who maintains cultural & religious customs, like matrimonial alliances, to keep the material aspects of society in alignment with spiritual principles. this starry space is considered so auspicious for marriage that even the gods are said to plan their unions accordingly.
if you’re getting married today, good instinct! if you’re not, it’s still a great good day to draw up contracts that will bear juicy fruit in the future. sure, you can do this contracting in your head, but i think it’s always a good idea to write stuff down. what kind of commitment can you, do you want to, make today for your future? how can you make that commitment real? seal the deal? how can you bring your material existence into greater alignment with your spiritual values?
