daily blissit’s monday, august 5, & moon is in the starspace of hasta this morning, then moves into chitra this afternoon. hasta is in virgo, chitra is half in virgo half in libra. which means we’ll still be organizing our realm this morning, dotting the i’s & crossing the t’s that keep us functioning, keep us healthy, & this afternoon we’ll be, like, “enough of that, i want to see people, i want to be in relationship with someone besides myself.”

hasta means “hand,” & this asterism endows us with the ability to achieve our goals. ultimately what are our goals but the fullest expression of our life’s purpose?! do you know what your life’s purpose is? are you living it? expressing it with every breath you take, every word you speak, every action you take?

in “arrow of the blue-skinned god,” jonah blank travels the geographical territory covered in the epic “the ramayana,” connecting the ancient tale with the present cultural-religious-political reality in india, giving it an anthropologist’s perspective. at one point, in madurai, he asks a soothsayer how he can tell personality traits from the lines in hands, how the signs get there. the soothsayer says:

“well, at the time of birth, the stars pull a baby in certain directions. … these stellar forces carve their imprints in the baby’s brain, & the brain paints clues in the palm of the hand. why does this happen, who can say? perhaps god lets us know a bit about our futures to help us live our lives the way we should.”

side note: my bestie kim, who has been my bestie since we were ten (!!!), has her ascendant in hasta & just happens (!) to be studying palmistry—she also happens to be a consummate knitter & weaver, in general very, um, handy.

our hands, like our natal charts, are soul maps. but they are not rigid. just as the karma we’re born with, as seen in our astrology chart, isn’t all set in stone, according to anna kowalska, with intention, by bringing presence to our actions, by literally using our brains, we can actually alter the patterns written in our hands. cool, no?

it’s the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which has to do with celebrating our victories. & you know which victories i’m talking about, right? the ones over our limited beliefs, the ones keeping us from living fully, madly, deeply on purpose!

& that’s your daily bliss—the moon owns monday, so it’s a great good day to connect to your intuition & use it for guidance on your soul’s journey. happy traveling!
