it’s friday, august 7, & moon is in the starspace called uttarabhadra, which occupies a sky-slice of pisces. pisces is where we make peace with life, with the duality of our embodied existence—yes, we are spirit, but we are also form—in small increments, pada by pada, step by step. it is where, although our desire is to merge into the cosmic ocean of love, we gradually shift our perspective, expand it, so that we can see through both cosmic & earthly eyes, see from this world & the world beyond, be love without totally checking out.

uttarabhadra is the complement to yesterday’s purvabhadra. purva means “former,” uttara “latter.” bhadra means “auspicious” or “blessed.” yesterday we were blessed with the lightning strike of inspiration, with a glimpse of our true nature, of our soul nature; today we are blessed with the determination to act on that inspiration, to drill down into the depths of that experience, b/c that glimpse was not enough. the deity who rules this asterism, ahir bhudnya, is another rudra, like purva’s eja ekapada, another emissary of shiva, who will settle for nothing less than waking us the you-know-what up. ahir bhudnya is a deep-sea serpent, so we shouldn’t be surprised if he slithers into some dark, hidden places in our psyches today & unearths some treasures, transforms our fear of what lurks there into wisdom, into strength.💪
it’s the fifth lunar day, the fifth day after the full moon, which makes it a good day for healing routines & taking medicine, which might be the same thing. it’s a good day to be your own doctor. what can you do today to nurture yourself? what form does medicine take for you?
