it’s monday, august 9, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. leo vibrates with the frequency of the father, balancing the maternal frequency of cancer, where moon was over the weekend & where it was new yesterday, initiating the next lunar cycle from the starspace called ashlesha.
cancer is the fourth sign of the natural zodiac, which is associated, appropriately, with the mother, our biological mother (or other nurturer in our life—maybe female, maybe a different gender who embodied female, nurturing energy), who allowed us to feel at home in ourself, & mother earth, who provides a home for us.
ashlesha means “the embracer/entwiner” & is ruled by the nagas, supernatural serpents, who represent & reveal our poisons, our toxins, our shadows, so that we can turn them into wisdom. ashlesha is where our mother wounds live—whether the ones we received in childhood (hey, no one survives childhood without a wound of some kind—& that is not a judgment on anyone’s mother, just a fact) or the ones passed down through our maternal lineage that we are still carrying. it is also where our wounded relationship with mother earth is revealed, b/c the earth, like the ideal mother, gives unconditionally without expecting anything in return, but the least we can do is respect her, honor her, not rape & pillage, destroy her forests & her air, take take take: our relationship needs to be symbiotic not parasitical.
our wounds create fear & anxiety & anger & behaviors to keep the fear-anxiety-anger at bay, strategies to control people or situations so that we don’t have to feel all that awful stuff. but those strategies don’t work, in fact just keep us stuck in the pain, right? do you feel me?
this new moon cycle is an amazing opportunity to free ourselves from wounded beliefs (beliefs are just thoughts on steroids!), to ask ourselves what ancestral wounds we are carrying, to heal them, close them for good, by unclinging to the beliefs & behaviors they have fostered in us, to turn our pain into wisdom & set ourselves free.
if you desire a mantra for this lunar cycle, may i suggest, “i receive the most when i attach the least”?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
