it’s tuesday, january 13, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called viśahkhā until late morning, then anurādhā. opposite calm ‘n’ cozy taurus, scorpio is where our feathers get ruffled, where we get uncomfortable, where our capacity to experience challenging emotions is tested & expanded. under the sway of scorpio, our mission is to accept that life isn’t all rainbows & puppy dogs. we get to surf the big waves, not watch them from the shore, the water barely lapping our ankles.

scorpio’s mantra is “if you aren’t uncomfortable, you aren’t growing.” sorry to break it to you!

viśahkhā (see yesterday’s post for more) reminds us that the spiritual & material work in tandem. anurādhā brings a lesson about who & what we are devoted to, about where we focus our precious faculties of attention, of love. ruled by mitra, the divine friend, anurādhā invites us to, challenges us to, see the divine in everyone, to treat everyone as if they were god (if we are, they are! more below!), as holy beings.

it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waning moon, the best tithi for getting our spiritual practices, like meditation, on, reboot them if necessary. we meditate, sit in stillness, to touch that egoless place in us that is pure bliss, pure goodness. but/& meditation is a practice & necessitates other practices to prepare us, as patanjali outlined in the eightfold path of raja yoga, living ethically, doing pranayama & asana among them.

in her gospels, mary magdalene called god “the good.” goodness is inherent in all of us. god, the divine, the ineffable, bliss, whatever you want to call it is “in here,” not “out there.” we don’t need a church or temple or mosque, a priest or rabbi or imam to access that state, that experience. all we have to do is be still to know we are good, are god, are holy beings.

i went to my friend jeanie manchester‘s* yoga class on sunday (it’d been ages since i practiced in a studio). it was a gorgeous raja yogic unfoldment of all of the above that facilitated an experience of bliss.

we need the whole megillah to be able to be still & know we are good.

tuesday, like scorpio, is ruled by mars, who give us the courage of a warrior & the discipline of a yogi. so it’s a double-good day to get our courage & our discipline on, a triple-good morning, b/c the eleventh tithi + viśahkhā + tuesday is a recipe for nectar, aka bliss, perhaps to be still & know we are good?!

*jeanie is one of the most embodied teachers i know & also teaches online, y’all!

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
