gemini is represented, in sidereal/vedic astrology, not by twins, as it is in tropical/western astrology, but by a male & female couple, the man holding a club & the woman a stringed instrument, symbolizing not just our duality (we are neither masculine nor feminine, but both/&) but also our desire to interact with, communicate with, share ourselves with others.
mercury, who rules this sign, was born of the union between tara & soma (the moon incarnated as a man), but she was married to jupiter. whoops!
just like tara, just like the dual nature of this sign, we may not be able to make up our minds, see all choices as desirable, may be fickle & cause mischief as a result. whoops!
