it’s tuesday, january 20, & moon moves from capricorn into aquarius early afternoon while being supported & transported by the starspace called dhaniṣṭā. capricorn, the natural tenth house of the zodiac, is the sign of government & leadership. aquarius, the natural eleventh house, is the sign of the people, of the masses, of humanity.
martin luther king jr., whose birthday was celebrated yesterday in the united states, was an aries with planets in both of those signs, both of those houses, bridged both of those areas of life. he was a uniter, not a divider, the kind of leader, if i may say so, we could use today, who would have served & uplifted our common humanity not crushed it under foot.
“you know my friends, there comes a time when people get tired of being trampled over by the iron feet of oppression.”—MLK jr.
dhaniṣṭā is the star of wealth & has the power to bring fame & abundance, gives us ambition & the courage to trust our intuition, to align with the rhythms of nature. when we are aligned with the natural forces of the universe, in tune with nature’s rhythm, that’s when abundance flows. when we are out of alignment, greed & unrealistic expectations flow.
the song “big money,” by jon batiste (exalted mars in—wait for it—capricorn/dhaniṣṭā, jupiter in aquarius; ya can’t make this stuff up!), is a commentary on true abundance, on the wealth/value of love, family, being effing authentic, not chasing money & fame. (altho, hey, he got both, but they came from his being magnificently aligned.)
“abundance out of order is gluttony.”—jon batiste, a musical minister for the people
it’s the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waxing moon, until about 2 p.m. MST, then the third, when the light of the moon is finally visible. the second tithi gives us pride in our creative inspiration, the third supports us in nourishing & sustaining it, bringing it fully to light, making it visible to others.
the third tithi resonates extremely well not only with tuesday but also with dhaniṣṭā, both ruled by mars, the one-two-three punch producing amrita yoga, a combo that yields nectar. sweet!
tuesday is ruled by mars, man/planet of action & whose highest expression is auspicious action, action fueled by a pure motive, by what is needed not by an expectation of reward. mars doesn’t dash into a burning building to save people for the gratitude & praise he might receive afterward.
the bhagavad gita (chapter 3, verse 9) teaches that we are bound by our actions—i.e., we create more karma, which binds us to this life—except when they are performed selflessly, as a sacrifice.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
