it’s wednesday, september 17, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called puṣya. cancer is the fourth sign in the natural zodiac (the one that begins with aries, not with each person’s rising sign), which is associated with our heart space, our feeling of being at home in ourselves & also in our physical home. our first physical home was our mother’s womb, source of unconditional, selfless nourishment. cancer is ruled by the moon, who receives & reflects the sun’s light; it is connected to how we receive experiences, including our mother’s love, how they land in our heart, how they resonate.

how does your heart feel? how at home do you feel in yourself?

puṣya is the star of nourishment & is ruled by brihaspati, the priest, whose name can be translated as “the lord” (pati) of “vastness” (briha), the one who nourishes with knowledge & wisdom, expands us spiritually. what nourishes you? what are you nourishing? what do you want to grow, expand?

it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waning moon, until about noon MDT, then the twelfth. the former has the quality of jyotsna, the divine halo that results from our spiritual practices (if we’re lucky!); the latter with sri, wealth, which is, you might say, the afterglow that lingers when we pray, do our spiritual practices. wealth/abundance manifests, is experienced, in many ways.

“books are the treasured wealth of the world & the fit inheritance of generations & nations.”—thoreau

wednesday is ruled by neutral, nonbinary mercury, who can swing any which way depending on whom he is hanging out with, isn’t beholden to any political party or world view, is by nature the switzerland of the planets, does not take sides but rather weighs both sides, all sides, before he (using the masc pronoun for efficacy) forms an opinion.

that is why he is a free speech absolutist. b/c without open, honest, &, yes, sometimes awkward/uncomfortable dialogue, without free sharing of ideas, regardless of how heinous, how odious they are to one participant in the conversation, an informed opinion isn’t possible.

mercury would never cancel someone b/c of what they said, in person or in public. but/& he is not averse to calling out the very same people doing it now who fumed over their adversaries doing it before. mercury does not suffer hypocrisy.

it’s a good day to have a meaningful, open-minded, civil convo with someone. who knows what you might learn?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
