it’s friday, june 19, moon is in leo, in the starspace called maghā, it’s the sixth phase of the waxing moon & venus’ day.
focus of attention
leo is the sign of the king, the one who rules the jungle (or, hmmm, savanna), as the lion does, the one who rules their realm, regardless of how big (or not) it is, & isn’t limited by the concept of gender—b/c while leo’s energy is masculine in that it is focussed outward, we all have kingly (queenly, quingly, if you prefer) energy, we all have the ability to rule, to lead. yes, some more than others; some overtly, others covertly.
the bhagavad gita teaches that “whatever action a great person takes, common people follow.” (III.21)
what does great mean? it means standing in integrity, not ego, leading by righteous example, not for the sake of accruing power or billion-dollar biz deals for one’s family, but for the greater good of all. what does common mean? let’s forget about caste/class & think about those who are shakier in their sovereignty, need someone to look up to who shines their light so others feel empowered to shine theirs.
what example are you setting? how brightly do you let your light shine?
mental/emotional direction
maghā is the star of our ancestors & reminds us that our sovereignty comes from those who came before us, that we stand on the shoulders of sooooo many others, on all those who taught & mentored us, all our guides in life, all those who passed down their genes to us, &, yes, their traumas as well.
maghā has a quality of fierceness, allowing us to take bold action, to overcome obstacles, & we know we are usually our greatest obstacles, right?
by healing ourselves, we heal our lineage. by living our best lives, we honor our ancestors, let them know their efforts weren’t for nought.
it takes courage to heal, to step up—you got this!
emotional support
the sixth lunar day (tithi), the sixth phase of the waxing moon, is ruled by goddess vajreshwari. vajra = “hard, adamantine, impenetrable,” also “diamond.” this tithi gives us the confidence to turn whatever goal we focussed on yesterday into something as indestructible as a diamond—whoa! it also takes the sting of perfectionism out of our efforts.
can you follow your passion without worrying about how perfect or flawed of a diamond might result from it?
