it’s wednesday, december 11, & moon is in the starspace called rohini, which is in a sky-slice of taurus. taurus, & especially rohini, is the moon’s favorite place, which means our mind is happy here, or content, anyway, which is really the more desirable feeling b/c happiness is conditional, it depends on stuff outside ourselves, but contentment can only be found within, can only be nurtured from within. anyhoo, taurus invites us to enjoy the exterior, material comforts of our embodied existence—that overstuffed couch, that plate of gorgeously prepared vegetables, wine & chocolate & our loved ones. nothing wrong with all that as long as we don’t get too attached to it, don’t mistake it for the ends rather than just a treat to enjoy on our journey.
rohini is ruled by brahma, who was born from a lotus flower that sprouted from the navel of all-pervasiveness, aka vishnu. brahma is the creator of all that is, so you might ask, who created him? you might ask, if he created everything, how could he not already have been born if vishnu was? maybe he was & was just hiding in the lotus, waiting for the right moment to make his official entrance. it’s one of those riddles that we can’t really solve, only try to extract meaning from. brahma is like the chicken & the egg. he represents infinity—the chicken is always the egg & vice versa. brahma is the creator & the power of creation, the individual & the universal. & so are we. we are as infinite as brahma, singular & not, individual souls connected to the universal soul, to all that is. there is enormous creative energy under this nakshatra—creating our own world, our own life, is the most creative act anyone of us can probably perform, so do let’s take advantage of that today.
full moon alert tonight in mrigashira nakshatra. mrigashira is ruled by soma, the elixir of immortality & personification of the moon. the jyotish goddess swati reminds us that from an ayurvedic perspective staring at a full moon can increase our own soma. my understanding is that another way to access our own resources of soma is to release the soft palate, which happens in heightened states of consciousness. moon bath or meditation—your choice!
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us our ability to communicate using the combo of words & technology—whether pen & paper, keyboard & computer, or voice & phone. words give us the power & the vehicle to express our thoughts, needs & desires, so we must use them wisely, but use them we must—ESP is not part of the mercury paradigm as far as i know.
