it’s wednesday, december 14, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. in the environment of leo, we feel into our sovereignty, the power of “me.” with great power comes great responsibility & great responsibility entails great humility. sun, as ruler of leo, wants us to shine our light on others, but we have to be careful not to burn them up with the heat of our ego. sun’s light is in service. the highest expression of leo is for each of us to be the light we want to see in the world, generously putting it out without wanting anything in return, b/c we can & b/c if we shine it gives others the permission to shine, a model for how to do so. & who doesn’t want to live in a world where everyone is shining their light?!
magha is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, & reminds us that, as david mitchell wrote in “cloud atlas,” & somni-451 says in the movie version (starring tom hanks!), “our lives are not our own. we are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.” we are bound to our ancestors through generational karma & the best way to heal that karma is to heal ourselves, be the best versions of ourselves we can be, birth a better future for our lineage.
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waning moon, which, as i mentioned yesterday, is connected to the warrior kartikeya. this tithi (lunar phase) supports us in dealing with the adversities we face, vanquishing our inner & outer demons/enemies, knowing when to fight & when to compromise, negotiate a truce.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who, like an independent journalist, uses his discriminating intelligence to get the facts, get the story. mercury doesn’t swing right or left, doesn’t take his marching orders from institutions or corporations, doesn’t serve their agendas, has no bias; his only agenda is the truth. with mercury in sagittarius now, we get to use our discriminating intelligence to get to the truth of our beliefs—for beliefs are not facts but subjective whirlings & swirlings. mercury invites us to be objective, unbiased, willing to see what is really what & release beliefs that, even if they once were, are no longer aligned with truth.
