it’s tuesday, december 17, & moon is in the starspace called magha, which occupies the first sky-slice of leo. which means we’ve made the leap over the border from the unconditionally loving ur-goddess energy of cancer into the fiery warrior energy of leo; from lunar to solar, inner & reflective to outward & expressive. the sun is what gives us our power to shine & also helps us burn through the impurities that prevent us from shining as brightly as we can; it helps us clarify our vision of self. we’ve all got a sun & we are all trying to shine. when we are in right relationship with our inner source of light, we are able to shine & let others shine as well. that magnanimity, that connection to higher purpose rather than to ego, is the best face of leo.
magha means “great” or “mighty” & is ruled by the pitris, the ancestors. we are who we are b/c of all those who came before us—through the physical, cultural & spiritual genes that were passed on to us. & those who come after us (if mother earth can still sustain life as we know it) will be who they are partly b/c of what we pass on to them. our might or our greatness depends on what we’ve inherited & the might or greatness of future generations depends on our legacy.

it’s the sixth phase of the waning moon, which is related to kartikeya, shiva’s younger son. kartikeya was the very successful general of an army & delighted in vanquishing his enemies. if you’ve got enemies (especially the kind that dwell within), today would be a great good day to do battle with them.
mars, the spiritual warrior, rules tuesday, & he is also a general in his own right. so today is, yes, a double-good day to use his courage to slay your foes—just make sure to be strategic rather than impulsive, which mars can also be, b/c we don’t want any collateral damage.
