it’s monday, december 19, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called swati. libra vibrates with the frequency of relationships that are conditional/transactional, based on what’s good for you, good for me. which entails boundaries—knowing what’s yours & what’s mine, not giving up my own needs to satisfy yours to keep the relationship together.
“it is amazing how peaceful life becomes when you realize it’s not your responsibility to regulate other people’s emotions, manage their insecurities, pacify their inner wars, heal their wounds, do their inner work AND be the version of you in THEIR minds.”—michele lee nieves
when i do me & you do you, both of us benefit, we can be in peaceful, harmonious relationship.
swati is ruled by vayu, the wind god, which is related to prana, our inner winds, our life force. vayu was also dad to hanuman, who harnessed his prana & flew like the wind to rescue sita from the demon ravana. this asterism reminds us that in order to achieve our goals we need self-control, determination & focus, & if we can add a dollop of hanuman’s devotion, so much the better.
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which supports us in purifying our mind & body, releasing poisons, by fasting, meditating & performing others kinds of tapas by harnessing our willpower (nod to hanuman!) & controlling our senses. this is all easier during the moon’s waning cycle, so we have an advantage today. the quality of the moon connected to this tithi (lunar phase) is jyotsna, or “divine halo,” suggesting that if we do indeed focus on our spiritual aspirations today, when our mind is most connected to its deepest nature, we just might get a hit from the divine. one way to do tapas is to read scripture, like, um, the eleventh chapter of the bhagavad gita, which is where krishna reveals his divine form to arjuna! is the chapter number a coincidence? probably not! my teacher sharon gannon says there are no coincidences!
monday is ruled by the moon, who is known as soma. soma is the elixir drunk by the gods to purify their minds & allow consciousness to flow harmoniously. soma gives us “the power to feel, dissolve, merge & become one with all,” says dr. david frawley.
so the theme of the day just might be purification!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
