the daily blissit’s thursday, december 19, & moon moves into the starspace called hasta around 10 am mountain time. hasta is a sky-slice of virgo, so it’s a full-on dot-your-i’s-cross-your-t’s kinda day. yep, virgo wants to keep us safe & healthy by paying attention to all the boring details of daily life, wants us to make sure our checkbook is balanced so our rent check doesn’t bounce (if, for example, your landlord is way old-school like mine & actually doesn’t use paypal or credit cards or direct deposit), wants us to eat properly & get exercise so we don’t get rundown, wants us to clean our house so we don’t get an infestation of mold. of course, some people like to clean & balance their checkbooks. although i am not one of them, i am, however, on autopilot when it comes to eating well (coffee & chocolate excepted) & getting exercise. virgo asks us to bring more intention to the life maintenance chores we don’t so much love to do.

hasta means “hand.” it is with open hands that we receive & with open hands that we offer. hands are a symbol of manifestation—we use them to literally (whether through writing or handicrafts or art or scientific experimentation or building) & metaphorically bring our ideas out into the light of day, make them concrete, tangible. & hands are the vehicle for healing, through which the medicine of reiki & massage & acupuncture, for example, is delivered. the secret to the energy of this asterism is to always remember that what we can offer comes by receiving divine grace, so we must remember to keep our palms open, our hearts open, our egos standing in the wings not center stage.

it’s the ninth phase of the waning moon, which is related to serpent energy. serpents are embodiments of hidden wisdom & we can use that wisdom to heal or to hurt, ourselves & others, we can turn it inside out or outside in—your choice!

thursday is jupiter’s day. jupiter is the guru. pema chodron says, “if we learn to open our hearts, anyone, including the people who drive us crazy, can be our teachers.” shouldn’t be a problem finding a teacher today, eh?
