the daily blissit’s sunday, december 1, & moon is in the starspace called shravana, which occupies a sky-slice of capricorn. capricorn takes the inspiration from sagittarius & turns it into action, takes the theoretical & makes it practical, puts it to use. capricorn gives us the discipline & determination—not to mention the fear of the race against time, with time threatening always to win—to get ‘er done, to make hay while we can.

the shakti of shravana is to listen, to listen deeply, ultimately to be able to get so quiet as to be able to hear the wisdom of the universe contained within. we can practice listening with random strangers & coworkers & our loved ones. we can practice listening by shutting the eff up when others are talking, by not thinking about our response or interrupting, by giving others the gift of silence, of space within which they can express themselves. who knows what profound insight they may have to share given the chance!

“listening is an attitude of the heart, a genuine desire to be with another which both attracts & heals.” — l.j. isham

every day it seems that we are bombarded with more & more information, with more demands on our powers of attention. the new york times contains as many words in the daily paper as the epic “war & peace”—how are we supposed to deal with all that? let alone twitter feeds & instagram & facebook & the constant drone of text messages & emails. it’s no surprise that we sometimes turn our ears off in conversation, need a time out. so maybe we should turn off the twitter feed rather than turn away from our human companions—turn away from the noise & the superficial so we can connect with what matters?

it’s the sixth phase of the waxing moon, so it’s a good day to celebrate your victories, all that you have accomplished, big & small—nothing is insignificant. what have you been doing that’s been working for you? what negative tendencies have you been able to overcome, slay, bury for good?

sunday is the sun’s day. the sun is our sense of autonomy & personal identity, how we shine our unique expression of self out into the world. sun gives us the soul(ar) power to do so. one way to recharge our soul(ar) batteries to set ourselves up for the week ahead is to get out into the sun & soak up the energy from its rays as if we were made of silicon & silver like the solar panels on a roof.

& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, contact me for a session! ~.~
