it’s monday, december 20, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called punarvasu. moon-ruled cancer vibrates with the frequency of the divine feminine, with unconditional love, with wanting to create an inclusive, nurturing container with her embrace. “mother” & “matrix” are cognates. we can think of the divine mother as the matrix, or a matrix, if you prefer. we spend nine months within the matrix of her, in her womb, which is a matrix in itself, our whole world.
punarvasu—how appropriate given that we’re on the eve of the winter solstice, when the days get longer, when more light than darkness starts to be the norm, b/c “punarvasu” actually means “the return” (punar) of “the light” (vasu). this asterism is ruled by aditi, the universal mother, who is the matrix of life itself, from whom all life is manifest, even her own father—that’s a story for another day. punarvasu brings the lesson that all things, including creativity, are cyclical; it brings the lesson of emerging from our own darkness—which we might call the magic dark, where, unbeknown to us, something has been incubating/percolating/fermenting—& returning to our own light, shining it outward again, manifesting again.
it’s the second lunar day, the second phase of the waning moon, which is associated with krishna & creative energy. what’s krishna got to do with creativity? well, for one thing, aditi was the mother of vishnu (b/c she was the mother of everything, created everything), & krishna is considered an avatar of vishnu. for another thing—& i know you know this, but it always bears repeating—we are not the doers, but mere vessels for the divine to flow through us. & for yet another thing, krishna is love, & when we surrender to love, align ourself with the divine, become vessels for love, we become vessels for creativity, b/c creativity is the matrix of life.
monday is the moon’s day, which also brings motherly, matrixy inclinations—the desire to connect with & connect everyone, to be inclusive, to trust our heart, which rules the divine mother. how do you want to spend your love today? share it? extend it? as you know by now, love is the matrix; it’s what makes everything possible.
