it’s tuesday, december 20, & moon moves from libra into scorpio in the early afternoon while being supported & transported by the starspace called vishakha. libra vibrates with the frequency of relationships, scorpio with the frequency of the fears that arise from those relationships. relationships are born of intimacy, sharing bits & pieces of ourselves, which creates vulnerability—omg, did i reveal too much? are they judging me? do they still love me?—& vulnerability creates fear, doubt, paranoia even, takes us into shadowland. all relationships are opportunities for us to learn more about ourselves. we get to be grateful for those opportunities if we are in the intention to grow, evolve.

vishakha is the only asterism ruled by two deities, indra & agni, the king & priest, the earthly & the heavenly. altho it can suggest two different paths, it can also suggest the necessity that, for us as spiritual beings having a material experience, it’s not one or the other, but both and. material support, like food & housing, grounds us so we can pursue our spiritual practices; our spirituality provides a container of meaning for our earthly existence. it’s a win-win!
it’s the twelfth lunar day, the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which is one of the most pleasant & conflict-free tithis (lunar days) & is said to yield results from the tapas we performed yesterday, on the eleventh tithi—fame, glory, material or spiritual wealth or the wealth of wisdom. this tithi supports success in general & gives us the power to win battles, whether internal or external, as long as we do so with humility. are you allowing yourself to be successful, to be as big as you can be (without getting a big head about it)?
tuesday is ruled by mars, who is our warrior spirit & inspires us to fight for righteous causes. our challenge is to be righteous without being self-righteous, to be confident but not overly confident, to be humble warriors, to serve the cause not our ego. as radhanath swami says, “fierce determination & gentle humility are the ornaments which makes one attractive in the eyes of god.”
the overall inquiry for today might be, “am i grateful & humble?”
