it’s wednesday, december 21, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called anuradha. moon is its least happy as it gets tossed about in the emotionally turbulent waters of scorpio. it’s easy for us to get triggered as our insecurities & paranoias drag us down like an undertow & we kick & scream as we feel a complete loss of control. in the netflix series “keep breathing,” new york lawyer liz rivera desperately & heroically does everything she can to control her fate, but total surrender is what ultimately saves her. scorpio teaches us that the more we grasp & try to control the harder we make it for ourselves; surrender is the key to transformation.
“surrendering doesn’t mean not taking action. it means taking action based on intuition & trust, not desperation & control.”—to be magnetic
anuradha is ruled by mitra, the divine friend, who is always evoked with either varuna or aryaman. this asterism reminds us to buddy up, that we’ll be more successful, & probably have more fun, if we don’t go it alone. it’s a good day to ask for help or help others out.
it’s the thirteenth lunar day, the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which accelerates both our spiritual & material progress, is connected to turiya, the state beyond this world, & also to kamadeva, god of human love & desire. in the thirteenth (!) chapter of the bhagavad gita (verse 13!), krishna says to arjuna, “i shall now explain the knowable, knowing which you will taste the eternal. brahman, the spirit, beginningless & subordinate to me, lies beyond the cause & effect of this material world.” meanwhile, we may feel the urge to deepen our relationships, which may involve getting triggered (!) to speed up the process.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who wants us to mean what we say & say what we mean.
it’s also winter solstice, the darkest (longest) night of the year, but that brings the return of the light to our worlds. we get to remember that we are light-bearers, that it is always incumbent on us to, as the egyptian book of the dead says, “go there & make of the world something beautiful, set up a light in the darkness.” how are you going to light up your world, transform darkness into light?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
