it’s thursday, december 21, & moon moves from pisces into aries around 9:30 a.m. mountain time while being supported & transported by … nothing! that’s right—moon has to jump the gandanta, the netherland between water & fire signs, from the starspace called revati into the starspace called ashwini. pisces is the last sign of the natural zodiac, aries the first. pisces represents endings, aries beginnings. the gandanta between them represents a karmic knot, where we get to resolve issues, untie the knot & free ourselves so we can move on, begin again. perhaps it’s a fantasy about how we want things to be, or how we think we should be. perhaps regret or guilt or shame or self-doubt or [fill in the blank] is keeping us bound to yesterday. let’s untie that knot gently with a whole lotta self-compassion, yes?
revati is ruled by pushan, the cosmic shepherd, who leads all lost beings home. ashwini is ruled by the ashwins, who are related to prana, our inner winds, our life force. it is said that we are each given a certain number of breaths in our lifetime, also that each tithi (lunar day) is 1,440 breaths long. in the shri vidya tradition, time is breath. our invitation is to consider how we are using our precious life force, how we are spending our time, whether discriminately or indiscriminately, whether we are wasting our breath or savoring it. one way to savor it is to slow it down, make it last longer through pranayama. remember: we get only so many breaths in this lifetime!
it’s the tenth lunar day (tithi), the tenth phase of the waxing moon, which supports us in doing our dharma—in fulfilling our sense of duty, responsibility, life purpose, being in right alignment with what is highest in us. “there are only two ways to live your life, only two ways to be,” said osho. “one is the right way, the other the wrong way. the right is to give, to share, to love. the wrong is to snatch, to exploit, to accumulate.”
thursday is ruled by jupiter, so it’s a good day to connect to wisdom sources, to show our gratitude to our teachers.
bonus track: tonight is the winter solstice, the end of the darkest dark days of winter & the beginning of more light coming into our lives. yay!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
