it’s tuesday, december 22, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra until about noon, then revati. pisces is where we end our journey, whether every lunar cycle or sun cycle or life cycle. it is where we realize, to paraphrase ramakrishna, that we are “freedom from every limitation,” that we are “the principle of timeless awareness.”
uttarabhadra is ruled by ahi bhudnya, a deep-sea serpent, so, um, there is a lot of serpent energy coming at us every which cosmic way today (see below & below). serpents bore deep into the crevices of our heart-mind, drink the poison & transform it into an elixir—i.e., wisdom.
we get to be like shiva today, who drank the halahala (poison) that rose to the top of the cosmic ocean when it was churned by the devas & asuras to obtain the nectar of immortality. good day to do halasana (plow pose)! (we’ll discuss revati tomorrow, but for now, we can think about letting go a bit more of our material attachments, to anything that prevents us from feeling totally at hOMe.)
we get to feel into our inner shiva but also our inner durga—choose your fierce godlike avatar today, or don’t choose—b/c …
… it’s the ninth phase of the waxing moon, which also brings serpent energy, aka our inner demons to the surface, & the shakti of durga, the one who vanquishes demons. durga fought the demon vrtrasura for a thousand years & killed him all by herself. yessss, a thousand years! it can take a while to slay our demons, but we should not give up, b/c eventually, inevitably, slay them we will, b/c demons are no match for durga.
tuesday is ruled by mars. that martian fighting spirit will def come in handy if you decide to face off with your demons today. & with mars also hanging out in pisces in revati, you should feel more inclined to turn that fiery energy inward, which is the best use of it.
