it’s monday, december 23, & moon is in the starspace called anuradha, which occupies a sky-slice of scorpio. scorpio can connect us so deeply to our emotions that we lose sight of all else, especially our reasoning mind, which might help us realize, say, that our fears are unfounded, or that we’re just being paranoid. yes, in scorpio, the darker, shadow side of us comes out to play, & plays hard. ken keyes jr, a forebear of the personal-growth movement, said, “to see your drama clearly is to be liberated from it.” if we can see our shadow for what it is, an opportunity for personal growth, then it no longer has power over us. scorpio supports us in doing just that.
anuradha is ruled by mitra, the divine friend. the “radha” in “anuradha” is krishna’s radha, his divine friend, as he was hers—they were not, as is commonly misbelieved, lovers. “anu” means “after” or “following,” as in “following in the footsteps of.” in this case those footsteps belong to radha, who couldn’t have been more devoted to her great friend krishna. the energy of this asterism invites us to connect to our friends from a divine, selfless place, to engage with those near & dear to us out of pure love & unattachment. we can often be freer & more forgiving with friends than we can with lovers, with whom we may experience, say, fits of jealousy & possessiveness, from whom we often expect & want unrealistically.
it’s the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which is related to kamadeva. kama = desire or longing; deva = divine or heavenly but is also the word for god or deity. kamadeva the deity is considered the hindu cupid, so today is a good day to satisfy your divine longings or to get with your beloved.
monday is the moon’s day, which means more focus on emotions. moon isn’t so happy in scorpio, where the mental-emotional body doesn’t feel supported, so, while i’m not going to tell you to just put on some rose-colored glasses until tomorrow, i will tell you that awareness of that fact can help you step back a bit, be a witness rather than a victim.
& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. i’d love to help you shine more light on your life but i’m taking a wee break from readings to support my family. stay tuned! ~.~
