it’s friday, december 24 (happy bday to me!), & moon is in leo (my ascendant!), in the starspace called magha until midafternoon, then purvaphalguni (my nakshatra!). leo is ruled by the sun, which is our inner light, our inner fire.
“set your life on fire. seek those who fan your flames.”—rumi
do you let yourself shine as brightly as you can? what lights you up? who lights you up? who feeds your fire, fans your flames, supports you in being your brightest self, wants you to shine your brightest?
magha is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, & brings the lesson that we didn’t get this far by ourselves, that we get to be humble kings & queens (see yesterday’s post for more). purvaphalguni is ruled by bhaga, god of delight, & brings the lesson that being a king/queen should be, well, delightful, that all work & no play makes jack or jill a dull boy or girl or nonbinary person. you know what brings me delight? vegan chai cinnamon rolls (yes, i have my moments!) from kind confections (which my dear friend emily sent to me) & skiing, especially when they happen on the same day & i can burn off those calories!
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waning moon, which is a good day to celebrate our victories. one way to feel victorious is to be grateful for all the miracles, big & small, in our lives. me, i’m going to celebrate the miracle of there finally being enough snow so that i can ski on my bday, which is my favorite thing to do, anytime, but especially on my bday.
friday is owned by venus, who governs relationships, beauty, art, the good things in life. venus is retrograde through the end of january, which means it’s time to review, rewind reassess, repair, reunite in all those areas of life, but especially relationships. we get to remember that the common denominator in all of our relationships is “me” & ask ourselves how we are showing up in them, how we are being. i think all of our relationship issues—familial, business, romantic, platonic—stem from our not being our most authentic selves, hiding our true nature, which also means not feeling whole in ourselves, expecting other people to fill in the gaps. spoiler alert: there are no gaps in us! we are each whole! venus retrograde is a great good time to work on our relationship with self.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
